Val d’Orcia: The unsung heroes of L’Eroica cycling event

The unsung heroes of L’Eroica cycling event

Today, as usual, I met a lot of tourists during my daily hike in the hills and on the Via Francigena. But I also saw these two gentlemen, working for the organization of L’Eroica, the non-competitive cycling event which will take place (also) in Val d’Orcia on Sunday, May 26th.

For those of you who don’t know, L’Eroica is an annual non-competitive cycling event which has taken place since 1997 in the province of Siena, Italy. The theme of the event is vintage cycling, with participants using vintage bikes, accessories and clothing, mostly on unpaved roads.

So, today no “where to stay in Val d’Orcia”, no “Where is Val d’Orcia Italy”, and not a word on “Val d’Orcia region”. No “Val d’Orcia winery”, no “proper Val d’Orcia pronunciation”, nothing about “Val d’Orcia restaurants” and no comments on how to go “From Florence to Val d’Orcia Tuscany”. No mentions of “Val d’Orcia Tuscany hotels”, no “bike holiday Tuscany-style” and definitely no “family holiday Tuscany -style”.

No “Brunello di Montalcino region”, not a word on “Argiano Brunello di Montalcino”, no “San Lorenzo Brunello di Montalcino”, and not a mention of “Brunello di Montalcino grape” or “Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino”, and not even a thought about “vineyards in Montepulciano”.

It is true that the best time to visit Tuscany is now and that Vacanza Toscana is for you too, but today all you loyal readers get is a picture of these two smiling gentlemen working hard to make sure that L’Eroica goes well, as usual, because the success of the event is mostly the result of the combined efforts of these two and many more unsung heroes.

Bravissimi.
