Yesterday I visited the event Prossima Stazione…. Torrenieri, and in addition to having the pleasure of immersing myself in a festival full of colours, music, and flavours (the food you can eat there is nothing short of excellent!), I had the pleasure of admiring the Fermodellismo Vintage exhibition, in which a series of model railways and models of unparalleled beauty are on display.
I would like to pay a thousand compliments to the young and not-so-young people who set up the models and the environment in which they are housed, decorated with marvellous furnishings and documents dating back many decades and more, and who had the infinite patience to explain their amazing achievements piece by piece. Thanks to Bruno, Ennio, Livio, Sauro, Fabio and all the other creators of something truly beautiful: their passion for model railways – and everything related to railways in general – shines through the entire exhibition, you could breathe it in the air and feel it in every word of their explanations.
From the antique stove that warmed the waiting room in a bygone era, to the carriage letters dating back to the early decades of the last century, to the vintage photographs hanging on the wall whose frames were created from pieces of railway sleepers, and ending with stationmaster’s hats and paddles, there is not a single object out of place, not a comma that does not betray the extraordinary attention to detail of these enthusiasts.
The exhibition will also be open tomorrow, Sunday 19 May. If you are in Val d’Orcia and have even the slightest interest in model railways, you absolutely cannot miss it.
