Val d’Orcia, the skies – May 10th

Da lassù il panorama è migliore (Going up for a better view) – May 10th 2024

In the heart of Tuscany, amidst the rolling hills of Val d’Orcia, a team of professional cyclists arrived, their sleek bikes glinting in the Tuscan sun. They had chosen the best time to visit Tuscany, just as Spring painted the landscape with vibrant colors. Their goal was clear: to train on the challenging strade bianche, the iconic white gravel roads that crisscrossed the region. After all, the start of the Giro d’Italia, one of the top international cycling competitions, was less than one month away.

After tackling the rugged terrain, they were allowed to indulge in the pleasures of the land. They sampled the renowned Brunello di Montalcino, savouring its rich flavours as they discussed their strategy for the race.

Theirs was not a holiday in Tuscany, but it was not just about training either. The members of the team could sample the famed countryside trails on the hills of Val d’Orcia, ‘hiking Tuscany’ and ‘cycling Tuscany’, going up for a better view of the breathtaking landscapes. It was an exploration of the must-see places in Tuscany. They visited ancient villages perched on hilltops, wandered through sun-drenched vineyards, and admired the timeless beauty of Villa Val d’Orcia.

They were in the top destinations in Tuscany, soaking in the culture and history of the region. And every day, as the sun set over the rolling hills, they returned to their Val d’Orcia hotel, weary but exhilarated, ready to do it all again tomorrow. Such was the magic of Tuscany – a land of vacanze dreams and cycling dreams alike.

After a week, the team left Val d’Orcia. Today, they are competing for the ‘maglia rosa’, the pink shirt which is the symbol of the first position in the rankings, in the Giro d’Italia.

Vacanza Toscana is for you too.
